Do you know how to help someone experiencing a mental health crisis?
More often than not, the question asked at the end of a presentation is "How do I help someone in my life who is in crisis?" or "What signs should I look for?"

Through the Sunflower Project, we aim to provide free or reduced cost Mental Health First Aid training courses. In addition to this, we aim to educate the community on mental illnesses as well as their prevalence, with 1 in 5 people experiencing a mental illness diagnosis within their lifetime.

Hannah is a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid instructor. She will be providing multiple MHFA courses in the coming months so stay tuned!
1 in 5 people will have a mental illness diagnosis within their lifetime. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, nearly two times as many people die by suicide in Michigan annually than by homicide. Through the Sunflower Project, we will be working to educate people on what to do when someone around them is experiencing a mental health crisis. Additionally, we are working to destigmatize mental health conditions by educating people on the prevalence of these conditions. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
